Lady Gaga, a volte scritto Lady GaGa, nome d'arte di Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (New York City, 28 marzo 1986), è una cantautrice statunitense di origini siciliane. Influenzata dalla musica pop degli anni ottanta di artisti come Madonna e Michael Jackson, e dal glam rock di artisti come David Bowie e i Queen (di cui è grande estimatrice, soprattutto del frontman Freddie Mercury), a quest'ultimi si è ispirata per creare il proprio nome d'arte, un chiaro riferimento alla canzone Radio Ga Ga dei Queen.

Viene messa sotto contratto dalla Interscope Records, ha debuttato nel 2008 con l'album The Fame, da cui vengono estratti singoli di grande successo, soprattutto in Australia, America, Canada, Nuova Zelanda e Italia, dove i suoi pezzi più conosciuti sono Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance e Paparazzi. Negli Stati Uniti Lady Gaga ha raggiunto il record con ben cinque singoli di seguito piazzati alla numero 1 nella Billboard Pop 100.

Conseguentemente al grande successo, il 31 gennaio 2010 ha ottenuto due Grammy Awards, uno per Poker Face come "Miglior brano dance" e l'altro per l'album The Fame, eletto "disco elettropop dell'anno". Il 16 febbraio successivo ha vinto inoltre tre BRIT Awards, come "miglior artista internazionale femminile", "migliore album internazionale" (per The Fame) e "migliore artista emergente".
